I'm out of shape. Is this workout for me?
The HK work out utilizes interval training. This is we work to get your heart rate up for a limited time, then we take it right back down. This is not your typical CARDIO work out where your heart rate stays up for the entire work-out. If you are currently out-of-shape, no other method will prove safer for you. Furthermore, an important part of your workout is communication. In addition to the cardio portion of the work out, we focus on Arms, Abs, or Legs during a particular session. You and your instructor constantly work together to adjust body position monitor breathing and control many other aspects of the exercise. You are supervised every second of the workout so you can focus all your energy on effort and performing to the best of your ability. We recommend that you start off with 3 personal training appointments before joining the group class.
Do I need Personal Training, or can I just join the group kickboxing classes?
Personal training is highly recommended for someone who is striving to achieve specific goals. Your trainer will take an initial assessment; give you counseling time, as well as focus solely on you during your individual training session. Perfect for busy executives, or people who have limited time and need results. The difference between the group KB classes and the personal training is the personal attention. With personal training, the work-out is designed specifically for your body. In group, we target abs, arms, or legs on specific days.
Will I bulk up?
The goal of The HK work out is to build muscle. Building muscle burns fat, strengthens bones, keeps your heart healthy, speeds up your metabolism and makes a body appear more toned and fit. We understand that many women have a fear of ‘bulking up.’ In general, most women have a small fraction of the muscle-building hormones, such as testosterone, that men have. Therefore, it is unlikely for a woman's body to bulk up naturally. In addition, because of the cardiovascular element, your body will become extremely balanced.
Will I lose weight?
You will lose FAT! It is important to understand the distinction. This workout will build the muscle that it takes to burn extra fat calories. Each new pound of muscle that you gain will raise your metabolism by as much as 50-calories-per-day. “The HK workout,” in conjunction with a proper diet, is the fastest way to safely lose fat.
Should I add additional strength building workouts?
You will get what you need right here at My HK. We focus on resistance training and good old fashioned push-ups and free weights. If your goal is to become a body builder, then the answer would be yes, add extra strength building classes. Our HK classes will adequately elevate your heart rate and improve your heart/lung capacity without putting undue stress on your muscles and joints. By all means, continue to enjoy other recreational activities, but you will no longer find the need to rely upon them as a means to lose fat or strengthen the heart.
When will I notice a difference in my body?
Depending on your level of effort, consistency and caloric intake, you will notice changes in your body within six weeks. Changes may include a new vitality, improved posture and enhanced strength and endurance. |
